FREMONT (KRON) — A fake kidnapping and ransom phone call turned out to be a scam, according to Fremont police.
On Monday at 12:18 p.m., a person in the 4100 block of Broadmoor Common notified police that an unknown caller claimed to have kidnapped the victim’s sister.
The anonymous caller then demanded money from the victim, police said.
Two officers responded and determined that the call had come from outside the country.
The victim then called the sister, who was alright and had not been kidnapped.
Police then confirmed the incident to be a phone scam.
