NOVATO (KRON) — Buffy Ford Stewart took her beloved cat, Boo, to Bridewell Hilltop Kennels in Novato. She put Boo up for two days while she moved out of her home, but Buffy had no idea it would the last time she would see her cat of more than six years.
“I got a call that Boo escaped,” said Buffy fighting back tears. “All my friends worry about me, all I do is cry.”
Anne Hadley, a manager at Bridewell Hilltop, said this is the first time in her eight years at the kennel that a pet escaped.
“The negligence is just shocking to me,” said Stewart. “The grief in me is huge.”
It’s been eight days since Boo darted out of the kennel. The cat escaped as a keeper was cleaning her cage and left a door open.
The staff has since set up a trap filled with Boo’s favorite treat, a stick of butter, in hopes of capturing the missing cat and returning her to Stewart.
“We feel absolutely terrible,” Hadley said. “This is a very unfortunate incident and we would like to help her get her cat back.”
