Authorities in Santa Cruz are searching for a male suspect who’s accused of sexually assaulting a jogger after she stopped to use the bathroom Wednesday.
According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, around 10:40 a.m. the victim— who’s in her early 20s— went on a run through Jose Avenue Park when she stopped to use the restroom.
That’s when a man entered the bathroom and pushed the victim into a stall and sexually assaulted her, deputies say.
After the alleged attack, the woman called the sheriffs’ office to report the crime. She worked with a forensic sketch arts to create a depiction of the suspect.
Investigators describe the suspect as a white man in his late 20s to 30s, 6-feet tall, dirty blonde hair and scraggly beard.
Authorities said he was barefoot and wearing a ripped black hooded sweatshirt with the words “Santa Cruz.” He also had on blue jeans, and a black backpack with red trip on the straps.
The suspect may be riding a bicycle.
