WASHINGTON (MEDIA GENERAL) – Once considered the Republican front-runner, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush officially suspended his campaign for the Presidency Saturday night.
Mr. Bush, who failed to gain any momentum in key early states, spoke to supporters in South Carolina while choking back tears.
“I congratulate my competitors who are remaining on the island,” said Mr. Bush just before 9 p.m. Saturday.
With sagging poll numbers, the Bush campaign relied on his high profile family to gain support before the South Carolina vote but was unable to change the momentum.
