An internal investigation is now underway after a Hayward Police Officer appears to have used force against a woman last month.
The 19-year-old in the video says she was thrown to the ground outside a 7-11 for no reason at all.
Police say an internal investigation is now underway and is basic protocol after force is used.
They also tell me the officers in the video are all still working during the investigation.
“I felt like trash. that’s what they made me feel like,” Carolina Olvera said.
Last month, Hayward Police surrounded a vehicle outside a 7-11, ultimately arresting a passenger inside who was wanted for armed carjacking.
They also arrested 19-year-old Carolina Olvera, who says she still doesn’t understand why she was thrown onto the hood of the car and then onto the ground, as seen in the video.
“I can tell you that at the end of the internal investigation if there are any wrongdoings that are discovered, our officers will be held accountable,” Lieutenant Guy Jakub with the Hayward Police Department said.
Lieutenant Guy Jakub says Olvera filed a formal complaint after she was put in jail for resisting arrest and now an internal investigation is underway.
“If there’s any video out there, we ask people to share it with our internal affairs division so it can be part of our investigation and once this investigation is concluded.” Lieutenant Jakub said.
“I want them to apologize,” Olvera said. “I want them to apologize to me personally. I want the officer to apologize to me maybe I feel like they should remove him or punish him because what he did is not right.”
Olvera and her attorneys met with police on Monday.
