Investigation under way into fatal traffic accident at San Jose Airport

SAN JOSE (KRON) — One person has died following a traffic accident outside Mineta San Jose International Airport, according to police on Wednesday.

Investigators say they were called to the airport’s terminal B at about 10:30 a.m. on a report of a crash involving two vehicles.

Police say officers arrived and found the driver, a 24-year-old woman, in one of the vehicles unresponsive. Emergency officials pronounced that person dead at the scene.

Five others were transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

The deceased driver of a red passenger vehicle that collided with a silver SUV may have been travelling above the 25 miles per hour speed limit, according to police.

The San Jose Police Department says its Traffic Investigations Unit is heading the investigation. Officers say there are few details available about the crash at this time.
