New details have emerged as officers continue to investigate a triple shooting that happened in broad daylight Saturday at Berkeley’s San Pablo Park.
According to police, they received multiple calls reporting gunshots at the park around 5:30 p.m.
At the scene, officers found three men who were shot.
A 25-year-old man was found with several gunshot wounds to his midsection in the south end of the park.
Two other men, a 57-year-old who was shot in the midsection and a 63-year-old who was shot in the hand, were found further north in the park near a barbecue area.
Police say several groups of families and friends were inside the park for get-togethers when the shooting took place.
Police say this is being investigated as a drive-by shooting, and that early indications show that people inside the car exchanged gunfire with a group of young men in their twenties at the park.
Investigators are still trying to determine if the 25-year-old victim was the intended target.
In addition to the three men being injured, several vehicles and at least one home were also hit by gunfire.
Anyone who witnessed this shooting or who has camera footage of the incident is asked to contact the Berkeley Police Department’s Homicide Detail at 981-5741.
