An avalanche forced a stretch of a Highway 50 in the Sierra Nevada south of Lake Tahoe to close for hours.
The snow slide closed U.S. Highway 50 early Monday afternoon about 4 miles south of the lake near Echo Summit.
Crews were able to clear the snow and reopen the highway by 5 p.m.
There were no reports of any injuries.
El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies say one car got stuck shortly after 12:30 p.m. but crews were able to dig it out.
Highway 89 at Emerald Bay is also closed due to the same issues.
