TOOELE, UT (WCMH) — The owner of a husky in Utah could face charges after the dog went on a ‘killing spree’ that left nearly 30 animals dead, including some at a petting zoo.
According to the police, Trip Kiss, the owner of a neighborhood petting zoo, noticed his motion sensors had tripped Monday night.
When Kiss looked at his surveillance cameras, he saw a husky targeting his animals.
“He was chewing our goose that was in the back end there. He dug up the rabbits in their enclosure,” Kiss told KTSU.
Kiss says the husky, named Nikita, killed multiple chickens, a couple rabbits, two ducks, and a specially trained goose.
However, police say the petting zoo animals weren’t the only victims of the Nikita’s killing spree that night.
Another neighbor said the dog also killed all of her chickens.
“So there was 12 at the first residence, and 15 chickens at the second for a total of 27,” Tooele City Police Sgt. Jeremy Hansen told KTSU.
Nikita’s owner, Mackenzie Morton, apologized for the dog’s action, but police say Morton could face 27 misdemeanor charges of attacking animals and one for animal at large.
