Hundreds of guns were taken off Redwood City streets Saturday afternoon where the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office paid people in cash in exchange for their firearms.
This was the second gun buyback event for San Mateo County in the last five years.
More than 400 guns were dropped off at the 4-hour event.
In exchange, the Sheriff’s Office paid up to $100 for handguns, shotguns, and rifles. Participants were offered up to $200 for assault weapons no questions asked.
