FREMONT (KRON) — A dump truck that went onto the sidewalk caused hundreds of people to lose power in Fremont Sunday morning.

The power outage is also affecting traffic lights in some parts of the city.

Police are asking drivers to avoid Paseo Padre Parkway between Capital and Walnut avenues as well as Civic Center Drive between Walnut Avenue and Bart Way due to the affected traffic lights.

PG&E crews are on scene and estimate it will be several hours before power is restored in the area, police said.

The outage, which began at 7:58 a.m., is affecting about 550 customers, according to PG&E’s website.

Most customers had their power back within two hours after the outage.
