PACIFICA (KRON) — The dead 39-foot humpback whale found in Pacifica on Sunday finally got towed out to sea Tuesday.
Beachgoers in Pacifica came for a last look at the dead whale.
A Santa Cruz tow boat company waited for a high tide before towing it away. The towing company said they would dispose of the whale once they passed the Farrallon islands.
It was the third whale to wash ashore in Pacifica this year.
Preliminary indications suggest that the adult humpback whale that washed ashore in Pacifica over the weekend may have been struck by a ship, according to officials at the The Marine Mammal Center.
