MOUNT JOY, Pa. (WHTM) – There has been name-calling and bad-mouthing in the 2016 presidential race.
No matter the results, some folks will be upset.
Dr. Fletcher McClellan, a political science professor at Elizabethtown College, suggests taking a breaking from politics after Election Day.
“Try to avoid social media,” he said.
McClellan said the time following the election is the best time to channel energy elsewhere. He suggested service clubs are a good way to do that.
“You have a lot of civic energy built up,” he said.
Gov. Tom Wolf suggested Pennsylvanians accept the results no matter the outcome.
“We’ll all get in line behind whoever wins,” he said, after casting a ballot on Tuesday.
McClellan said if you need to repair any relationships that might have been damaged by the election, it’s best to congratulate winners and losers.
“And have a good drink,” he joked.
McClellan said the holidays are also a good chance to repair any damaged relationships.
