SAN LEANDRO (KRON) – A hoverboard was in the area where a fire started Saturday afternoon in a two-story San Leandro home, according to Alameda County fire officials.
Around 2:59 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of the fire in the 800 block of Glen Drive, authorities said.
An investigation determined that the fire was an accident, fire officials said.
A hoverboard was found on the first floor of the home and had been charging since Friday evening.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but fire investigators will be contacting the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission about the incident, fire officials said.
The commission is looking into a variety of firms that sell or make hoverboards.
Firefighters knocked down the two-alarm fire at 3:09 p.m.
No one was at home and no firefighters were injured, fire officials said.
The fire was contained to the home’s first floor.
