(WLNS) – Before you pack any lunches today check your Hostess brand products. The company is recalling 710,000 cases of certain snack cakes and donuts because of the risk of peanut residue in the flour used to make the snacks.
The Hostess Brands products were made using a flour that has now also been recalled and, as a result, these products may contain low levels of undeclared peanut residue.
The recalled products include Zingers and Ding Dongs in single serve (snack cakes and donuts), multipack boxes and bagged donuts.
The products were sold to mass merchandisers, grocery stores, distributors, dollar stores, drug stores, and convenience stores throughout the United States and Mexico.
Hostess issued the recall after receiving notice of two allergic reactions related to the product.
Anyone who has purchased an affected product and who has a sensitivity or allergy to peanuts is encouraged to discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
