Homicide investigation into inmate death in State Prison, Solano

VACAVILLE (KRON) — A homicide investigation is under way into the death of an inmate at California State Prison-Solano (SOL), said the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Tuesday.

Investigators said an inmate was discovered missing approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday during the evening count.


At about 9:30 p.m. prison workers located a body in a confined space inside the missing inmate’s housing unit, said correctional officials.

Officials said the victim is a 24-year-old man from Alameda County, serving an eight year prison sentence for second degree robbery. His name has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

CSP Solano Investigators, the Solano County Coroner, and the Office of Inspector General are investigating the death.

California State Prison Solano opened in 1984. It is a medium-security prison housing approximately 3,800 general population inmates.
