OAKLAND (KRON) — The Children’s Fairyland in Oakland will kickoff their annual holiday celebration starting the first week of December, park officials announced on Thursday.
Fairy Winterland will be decked out in thousands of twinkling lights and characters will roam the park in special costumes providing live holiday entertainment including musical performances, storytelling, and magic.
“In December, Fairy Winterland celebrates the winter holidays of many cultures: Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Las Posadas, Diwali, and Chinese New Year,” park officials announced.
When the sun goes down, the skies above Winterland will light up as Santa Claus leads park guests in a Festival of Lights Parade through the 10-acre park.
Guests will also have a chance to have their photos taken with Santa and each one of Santa’s little visitors will receive a holiday treat.
Winterland guests will receive an extra dose of holiday spirit with free cider and cocoa.
The park offers 60 storybook sets, kid-size rides including the kid-sized Jolly Trolly, two carousels, and a mini ferris wheel. There are also more than a dozen friendly animal exhibits, from alpacas to ponies.
“The park is for all ages, but especially those under age 9,” park officials said.
The Winterland schedule is open Fri-Sun throughout December from Noon to 7 p.m. The park will also be open Monday through Wednesday, December 21-23.IF YOU GO
