The countdown to Christmas is on and we are only 5 days away from the holiday.
If you have a flight to catch in the next few days, be extra prepared for record-breaking lines at airports nationwide.
According to TSA, between Thursday, Dec. 20 and Jan. 6, 2019, 41 million flyers are expected to pass through airport security checkpoints.
That’s up 6 percent from this time last year, and an increase of about 126,000 passengers each day, TSA says.
The agency is reminding travelers to allow as much time as you can to make it through security to arrive at your gate in time.
If you’re traveling with gifts, TSA advises you NOT to wrap them until after you make it through security, since gifts that require additional inspection may be unwrapped.
If your holiday traveling schedule is flexible, consider the lightest travel days — Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as Jan. 5.
