LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper’s squad car was significantly damaged Monday by a hit-and-run driver.  It happened Monday around 5 p.m. during a routine traffic stop on U.S. 95 northbound at the Summerlin Parkway on-ramp. 

NHP said the trooper’s car and another vehicle was stopped on the right shoulder when a car traveling northbound disregarded the state’s Move Over Law and struck the trooper’s left side drivers door.

Fortunately, the trooper was not injured, but he was just a couple feet away from serious injury or death, NHP said. 

The driver did not stop after the wreck. Instead, the driver continued driving northbound.

NHP said they’re looking for the driver of an orange Chevy, possibly a Cobalt with moderate damage to the front end and right front section of the vehicle.
