High Surf Advisory issued for parts of Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A high surf advisory has been issued for part of the Bay Area until Friday morning, the National Weather Service said.

The advisory will last from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Friday and is in effect for the North Bay coast, including Point Reyes National Seashore, the Peninsula coast, northern and southern Monterey Bay and the Big Sur coast.

The Weather Service said surf and waves could build up to 12 to 15 feet by Thursday night.

Beachgoers are being warned of the possibility that they might get swept into the water by fast-moving waves.

There is also a risk of strong rip currents and large shore breaks.Bay City News contributed to this report
