SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A high surf advisory has been issued Thursday for some coastal areas in the Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory went into effect at 3 a.m. on Thursday and will continue to until 8 a.m. Friday.
The advisory includes the Point Reyes National Seashore and the San Francisco Peninsula coast.
The National Weather Service says a northwest swell will build to 13 to 18 feet Thursday night.
Beachgoers are urged to be cautious of large breaking waves along the coast that will be capable of sweeping people into the ocean.
