SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)– The California Academy of Sciences is asking for the public’s help on something that will change the future of the museum for years to come.
In November, two African penguin chicks hatched at the museum.
Since then, the penguins have been working with biologists, learning to swim and eat fish as they prepare to join the Academy of Science’s 14-bird colony.
Before that can happen, the chicks need names.
That’s where the museum is hoping the public will lend a helping hand.
The academy asked six local museums to nominate a name for the penguins based on their own organizations’ missions and collections.
The proposed names include Bert, Bufano or Ebb for the male chick and Nori, Pina or Stella for his sister.Click here to vote for your favorite name.
Voting will continue through March 24, with the winning names to be announced on the 25th.
Participating museums include the Asian Art Museum, Exploratorium,
de Young, Oakland Museum of California, Walt Disney Family Museum and the
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
