Heavy snow up in the Sierra Nevada’s has created dangerous driving conditions.
Slippery and whiteout conditions have affected several mountain passes between Sacramento and Reno on Monday, according to State Transportation Officials.
These conditions make it difficult to drive in and chain requirements are in place.
Chain installers ask for drivers attention before they are even seen.
“When you see chain control one mile ahead, the speed limit is 25 miles per hour from that point,” says chain installer Doug Phir. “So a lot of people don’t slow down until they get right here.”
This snow storm made residents happy and snow plow trucks busy.
If you plan to head up to the mountains, drive safe and slow down when you see chain control signs.
