Water has started to pool in the lanes of major highways like U.S. 101 in the North Bay and I-80 in San Francisco.

The storm has also caused a large tree to fall in Mill Valley, causing a power outage for hundreds of residents in the area.

And in Vallejo, a 22-year-old driver suffered a broken femur after his vehicle hit a tree. The male driver was going westbound on Curtola Parkway, when his white Toyota Camry lost control while trying to navigate a turn.

His truck slid off the roadway, and the left side of his vehicle hit the tree, police said. It took crews about 25 minutes to extract the driver from his car.

The North Bay has seen the heaviest rain so far and it’s only just the beginning of the two weeks of rain. The Santa Cruz Mountains will also get some of the heaviest amounts of rainfall.

Police are reminding drivers to slow down and leave extra space between yourself and the car in front of you. It is recommended to leave early and double normal drive times.

The National Weather Service is also warning swimmers by issuing a high surf advisory from 6 a.m. Tuesday through 6 p.m. Wednesday.
