HAYWARD (KRON) — Hayward police have arrested a man, accused of trying to run over the mechanic who had just finished working on his car.

On Saturday around 6 p.m., officers were called to an auto repair shop in the 29-thousand block of Ruus Road on a call of assault with a deadly weapon.

When officer got there, a 47-year-old auto shop mechanic told police that he had gotten into an argument with a customer about a car that he had recently repaired.

The employee said that the customer, later identified as 26-year-old Navdeep Virk, intentionally hit him with the recently repaired car before driving off.

A driver passing by happened to see the incident and saw the man driving off. That passerby helped officers to find Virk.

Virk was arrested and has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and violating the terms of his probation.

The mechanic was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
