ANN ARBOR, Mich. (KRON/AP) – Former 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh’s arrival to the University of Michigan appears to be already helping the school at the box office.

The university is reporting football season-ticket sales have spiked to almost 90,000. That’s the highest since 2012. Figures show a majority, 72,076 of the sales were purchased as non-student season tickets. Michigan students claimed 17,899 tickets, up from 11,597 last season.

Harbaugh was hired in December at his alma mater, after four seasons with the 49ers. Harbaugh’s split from the Niners came with one year left on his contract and amid rumors he clashed with the team’s management and had lost support within the locker room.

During his tenure with the Niners, he led the team to a 44-19-1 record in four seasons with three consecutive appearances in the National Football Conference Championship game and one trip to the Super Bowl.

Harbaugh coached at Stanford for four seasons before taking the 49ers job. He led Stanford to an Orange Bowl win over Virginia Tech in his final season there.
