SAN RAMON (KRON) — A woman called police when she saw a gunman outside her San Ramon home on Thursday dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask.

Officers responded to her neighborhood after she called at around 8:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found the person described hiding in bushes near the residence. The person followed the officer’s instructions and came out unarmed.

That’s when an officer quickly realized the person was playing airsoft rifle games with four of his friends. The boy was 14 years old and was playing with other children who were all between 12-14 years old.

However, the fear was real for the woman who called 9-1-1. Panic can be heard in her voice when she tells dispatch to “hurry, hurry!”

Police released the dispatch call, which can be found in the video above.

Police say this call was reported less than 24 hours after a neighboring city had an armed carjacking.

This is also the second incident within the last few weeks where our officers have encountered very realistic looking airsoft guns. Police say it has become concerning because of how well these airsoft guns replicate actual firearms.
