EL PASO, Texas (AP) – A grand jury in West Texas has indicted a father accused of helping his rookie Los Angeles police-officer son flee after an off-duty slaying in California.
Victor Solis of Lancaster, California, was indicted Wednesday on a charge of making a false statement to the FBI in El Paso.
His son, Henry Solis, is sought on a murder charge in the March 13 shooting death of Salome Rodriguez outside a nightclub in Pomona, California.
Investigators believe Victor Solis helped his 27-year-old son slip into Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, on March 14.
The indictment returned in El Paso says the father told investigators that he was alone going into Mexico. Prosecutors say FBI photos show father and son going through the Paso Del Norte Port of Entry.
Victor Solis remains in custody.
