Good Samaritan stops man from pushing kid into car

Jerry Canto couldn’t believe what he saw.

“Leave the boy alone!”

“He stole from me.”

Jerry said it all started when he saw three kids running.

Jerry Canto said, “They started running really quick and then a white Camry almost run over them, hitting one kid, probably around 9 or 10 years old.”

That’s when Jerry pulled out his phone and started recording.

Jerry said two kids ran but the youngest was near the Camry and it appeared the man was pushing the boy inside of it.

The man claimed the boy stole from his store Amigos Food Mart just down the road.

Jerry says he grabbed a hammer and approached the man.

Jerry Canto said, “I tried to tell him to leave the kid alone and he was screaming ‘You stole from my store.'”

We reached out to the store owner — he did not return our calls.

A clerk told us the boys stole from the store and it was captured on video.

Still, for Jerry, he was just a kid.

Jerry Canto said, “It’s just a kid. He might have took something from the store. I don’t know, I don’t see it, but I don’t care, my plan was to save the kid.”

Jerry said the child went home.

No word on whether or not the store owner could face charges.
