Giants gear up for opening day

(KRON) — The San Francisco Giants make some changes to their roster as the team prepares for opening day and its quest to defend its 2014 World Series title.

Perhaps the biggest surprise on the list of players being sent to the minors is catcher Andrew Susac, who is the Giants top prospect. Juan Perez was also sent down, which likely means Justin Maxwell, who played for Kansas City last year, has earned a spot on the roster as the 5th outfielder. Bruce Bochy’s son Brett, a pitcher, will begin the season in the minors as well.

The Giants open the season April 6th in Arizona against the Diamondbacks, but first take on the A’s in a Bay Bridge exhibition series starting this Thursday at AT&T Park.
