PHOENIX (KRON) — The San Francisco Giants have activated second baseman Joe Panik off the disabled list, the team said Monday. Panik has been out for the last month while he has been dealing with a back injury. Rookie Kelby Tomlinson has helped fill the void during the time.

Panik made his first All-Star appearance this season while putting up a .309 batting average, to go along with seven home runs, and stellar defensive play in the infield.

The 24-year-old will try to help the Giants in the playoff race. They currently trail the Los Angeles Dodgers by 7.5 games in the National League West and are eight games behind in the Wild Card standings.

The Giants will be in Arizona to face the Diamondbacks Monday afternoon.
