OAKLAND (KRON)—KRON4’s Hermela Aregawi spoke to a friend of one of the victim’s killed in the “Ghost Ship” fire Friday night in Oakland.
Joshua Howes is a recent ex-boyfriend of 32-year old Donna Kellogg.
Howes says it made sense that she was at the warehouse party because she liked musical acts at small venues.
At just 32 years old, Kellogg is gone.
Kellogg was a graduate of San Francisco State University and was working at Highwire Coffe Roasters in Berkeley.
The cafe says others that had tied to the business remain missing.
Howes tells KRON4 News “Donna loved house shows, call it house shows, artist live in a house, you throw a show for your friends. That was her thing she didn’t really like big venues, she liked.”
Howes says he spoke to Kellogg a week ago and had seen her a week before that to return her grandmother’s accordion that she left at his house.
In an emotional interview, Howes says, right now he’s just trying to focus on helping Kellogg’s family during this tough time.
“Well I’m trying to be diligent in whatever responsibilities and fulfill whatever responsibilities I think are incumbent upon me which is to go and try to find her car to give her mother some microscopic feeling of control.”
