TOPEKA (KRON) — The planning process has begun for a very unusual wedding, where Gandalf of the “Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, and professor Dumbledore from the “Harry Potter” series will tie the knot.

“We’re going to put on a wedding where they are in full character, they’re going to come down, and we’re going to make it look as much like a beautiful white wedding.” Davis Hammet, Director of Operations for Planning Peace.

A tale that all started when Harry Potter author JK Rowling sent a tweet applauding the Irish people for passing same sex marriage, “And Westboro Baptist Church had tweeted at her something along the lines of, now Dumbledore and Gandalf can get married, and we would be there to protest,” Hammet said.

Rowling fired back with “Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls.”

Westboro responded with a sign outside their church the read “GOD HATES IRELAND & JK ROWLING FOR PUSHING F** MARRIAGE! JUDE 7.”

When we asked Steve Drain, of the Westboro Baptist Church, he said it’s fitting Planning Peace would hold such an event, “And here’s how it goes, J K Rowling, Jesus Christ, J.K. Rowling their ashamed of Christ, and Christ is going to be ashamed of them on the last day,” Drain said.

However it was the sign in Westboro’s front yard that sparked the church’s colorful neighbors to do something, “We were thinking how we can utilize this situation to bring a positive message in to the community,”

And that date was set, June 7th at 2 p.m., the same-sex wedding of the two of the greatest wizards.

“It’s certainly over the top,” Drain said.

“Sometimes it is silly, but we’re able to put out a positive message,” Hammet said.

As for the answer to the big question, will Westboro be picketing the wedding? When I asked them they said they already have other plans.

Instead of wedding gifts, “Planting Peace,” is asking for money to be donated, organizers say they plan on using the funds to challenge the message of the Westboro Baptist Church.Brooke Lennington of KSNT contributed to this story.
