CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex. (MEDIA GENERAL) – In an extremely rare event, identical triplets, two conjoined, have been born in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Silvia Hernandez, and her husband, Raul Torres, welcomed their three baby girls into the world Saturday, May 16, just a few days early. The babies were born by C-section one day short of 34 weeks.
Catalina Montserrat, Ximena Jackeline and Scarlett Juliet all weigh four pounds, 11 ounces and are breathing without the use of a respirator.
Hernandez also has a 3-year-old boy named Raul Torres Jr. She wrote on her Facebook page chronicling her journey that when she and her husband found out they were pregnant with triplets they were thrilled.

Three months later, doctors gave the couple some bad news. They learned two of the babies were conjoined from their lower stomach.
“The truth is I cried,” wrote Hernandez. “I cried because the doctor said we had to understand and accept the fact that once they were born, they could die.”
Hernandez spent five weeks on bedrest to allow the babies to keep growing.
After the birth, the conjoined twins got through surgery to check them for fluids, according to Hernandez’ Facebook page. They are now at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
“God chose us to take care of these babies,” Raul Torres said, “we put our faith in God’s hand first and everything will be alright.”Follow the triplets’ journey: https://www.facebook.com/tripletstorres/timelineDonate to the triplets’ family: http://www.gofundme.com/s52tzew
