OAKLAND (KRON) — Firefighters battled a grass fire in the Oakland Hills Sunday morning near Tilden Regional Park.

At 5:41 a.m. Sunday, Oakland Fire Department received a call about a grass fire in the area of Claremont Avenue and Grizzly Peak Boulevard.

In addition to Oakland Fire Department, firefighters responded to the scene from Berkeley, East Bay Regional Parks and Moraga-Orinda fire departments and CAL Fire.

The fire burned approximately one acre and was reported extinguished by about 6:45 a.m., according to fire officials. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This fire was in the same area of the 1991 Oakland Hills firestorm that burned nearly 4,000 homes, killed 25 people and took several days to contain.
