FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — A Central California police chief says he’s taking action against one of his officers who shot and killed an unarmed 19-year-old man during a traffic stop.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said Friday, however, that he believes the officers involved in the June shooting acted within policy.
Two officers shot Dylan Noble during a daytime traffic stop in June. Video captured by officers’ body camera shows Noble refusing repeated commands to show both of his hands, or be shot.
Dyer in a news conference wouldn’t to say what action he will take against the officer who fired a fourth and final round at the downed man; it could include discipline or training.
Dyer says that all of his officers will undergo training, and he will consider changing department policies.
Both of Noble’s parents have filed lawsuits against the department.
