The 54-year-old Fresno man who was shot and killed by his teenage son was identified Sunday.
Fresno County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Office identified Javier Vera as the victim of the shooting, which deputies say was in defense of the 16-year-old’s mother.
The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday near Clinton and Garland avenues.
Sheriff’s office spokesperson Tony Botti says the shooting happened after the teen saw his father choking his mother. He added the two had been arguing for some time after coming back home from a family gathering.
Botti says no arrests were made and the office has no plans to make an arrest.
The Fresno County District Attorney’s office will review the case to determined if charges will be filed.
