FRESNO, Calif. (AP) – Authorities say a Central California man was burned alive when a bus that he lived in went up in flames.
KFSN-TV in Fresno reported Tuesday that witnesses describe seeing Feliciano Franco trapped in the back of the burning bus, pounding on a window and begging for help before he died.
Firefighters say they’re still investigating what sparked the fire that started at the front of the bus.
Witnesses say Franco was in his 40s and homeless; the Eastside Church of God had let him live in the bus parked next to the church building.
Fresno Deputy Fire Marshal Don MacAlpine says Franco had been talking with church members shortly before the fire.
Investigators say they’re looking at surveillance video to help determine what sparked the deadly flames.
