RAISIN CITY, Calif. (KSEE) — A puppy gets himself into a dangerous situation after sneaking into his owner’s car and not into the back seat but inside the wheel well.
Somehow, the pup made it out unscathed.
Robin is a two-month-old Husky. Like any other puppy, he likes to play, cuddle and ride in the car but this ride was like no other.
A cry for help coming from a car WAS caught on cell phone video. The barking puppy belongs to Maria Diaz and her family. She says she was on the way to Raisin City Elementary to pick up her kids on a normal Tuesday afternoon.
“Good. Everything was normal,” said Diaz.
Until Diaz and her kids found a crowd surrounding the sounds not realizing it was their own puppy, Robin.
“I knew that once my daughter realized it was her puppy, she was gonna cry,” said Diaz.
But Raisin City Elementary School District Superintendent Juan Sandoval jumped into action and went to work, taking off the front left wheel and rescuing Robin.
“Good job Mr. Sandoval. Aw, there’s your puppy,” heard on the video.
No one knows how Robin climbed into the wheel well before the 10-minute drive but Sandoval says he was happy to step up.
“What made the day is that the children were there and you could see their smile and they saw their puppy nice and safe,” said Sandoval.
A close call for the pup who is absolutely adored and a mother who is grateful for her tightknit community.
“I was so relieved and thankful that there were people ready to help,” said Diaz.
