FREMONT (KRON) — A convicted felon was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Fremont on suspicion of domestic violence and possessing weapons he is not allowed to have, police said.
Victor Torres, 35, of Fremont, was arrested at 2:05 p.m. at a relative’s home in the 43000 block of Mayfair Park Avenue. This is where he fled after allegedly hitting his girlfriend in the head with a gun, according to police.
Torres’ girlfriend reported the beating around 11:51 a.m. Wednesday, and told police they had been arguing in the 1800 block of Washington Boulevard.
Police responded to an area near Blacow Road and Grimmer Boulevard with patrol officers, investigators, and a street crimes team. Police checked Torres’ criminal history and found that he had
multiple felony convictions, which sent him to prison and took away his right to have a gun.
A SWAT team, hostage negotiation team, and an emergency medical team were also at the scene.
Torres was arrested without trouble.
The second part of the story is the vast collection of weapons that were found in Torres’ house. After obtaining a search warrant, police searched Torres’ home and allegedly found multiple semi-automatic assault rifles and handguns, illegal high-capacity magazines, and multiple boxes of ammunition. One of the guns had been stolen in San Jose, police said.
Police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said that taking this amount of weapons off the street was a “big deal.”
“It was very alarming to find this much,” Bosques said.
Torres is scheduled to be arraigned at 2 p.m. today in Fremont. He is being held in the county jail on $520,000 bail.
