ALAMEDA COUNTY (KRON)—A little bit of history Tuesday night made by the Alameda County Supervisors.

They approved a ban on fracking becoming the first county in the Bay Area to do so.

The ban may be more of a symbolic gesture however.

Currently, there is only one company that drills for oil in Alameda and it does not use fracking.

Fracking is when oil companies inject water or chemicals underground at high pressure extract oil from rocks.
