SANTA CLARA (KRON/BCN) — Four California Highway Patrol officers are being honored today in Santa Clara for heroism in the line of duty, CHP officials said Thursday.

Officers Joshua Nelson, Nicholas Hoey, Jeremy Maya and Andre Sirenko will be honored at noon at the Santa Clara Marriott at 2700 Mission College Blvd.

The four are being honored by ASIS International, an organization for security professionals, according to CHP officials.

Sirenko will receive an Iron Officer award for not giving up while facing a challenging situation.

Sirenko was slashed in the throat and arm in a struggle last month with a man near a homeless encampment in San Francisco. He survived the attack and the suspect was arrested.

The suspect, Noel Corpuz, has been charged with attempted murder and other offenses.
