PALO ALTO (KRON) — Four suspects have been arrested for a series of auto burglaries in Palo Alto and Milpitas, police said Tuesday.

Police said the suspects were taken into custody after a brief foot chase in Palo Alto on Monday.

The four suspected burglars came to the attention of Palo Alto police at about 11 a.m. Monday when Milpitas police notified area departments of two auto burglaries that had just happened.

Milpitas police provided a description of the suspects’ red 2013 Toyota Corolla and a license plate number they got from a witness, according to Palo Alto police.

Palo Alto police in unmarked cars started driving through areas where daytime burglaries are common. They spotted the car in the Town and Country Shopping Center at 855 El Camino Real at 12:16 p.m.

Two suspects were in the car, and two others were walking nearby, peering into parked vehicles, police said. As the police watched them from their unmarked car, the two suspects outside got back into the Corolla.

Marked police cars showed up and the officers stopped the Corolla, but three of the four suspects got out of the car and ran in different directions. Officers chased and arrested all three. No one was injured, police said.

Police found the four suspects with a laptop that had been stolen that morning in Milpitas and other property that investigators suspected was also stolen.

Investigators eventually connected two of the suspects to three auto burglaries last Thursday night in Palo Alto and booked them on suspicion of those burglaries as well, police said.Police identified the four suspects as 29-year-old Jon Anthony
