ANTIOCH (BCN) — A four-alarm fire destroyed one home and damaged four others this evening in an Antioch neighborhood, an operations chief with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said.
The fire was first reported at 4:36 p.m. in the 900 block of Burwood Way.
The fire started in some brush and was wind-whipped and spread quickly to the homes, fences and other vegetation, Operations Chief Lon Goetsch said.
A total of five acres of vegetation burned. Police assisted by evacuating residents from the homes in the area affected by the fire. No one was injured.
The fire was under control at 6:15 p.m., Goetsch said.
