Fort Bragg restaurants will not be required to use paper plates to conserve water

FORT BRAGG (KRON) — The paper plate debate is off the table in Fort Bragg.

The city was considering banning dishes in restaurants to conserve water. At the end of last month, the city council brought up the idea as part of a Stage 3 water emergency.

This came after the Noyo river began to draw water from municipal pipes. Businesses are now encouraged to use paper plates, but it will not be required.

Currently in Fort Bragg, businesses need to reduce their water use by 30 percent.

Residents are not allowed to wash their cars, nor water their lawns.
