SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Former 49er Kwame Harris was arrested in San Francisco at 730 Sunday evening.
Harris was taken into custody at 14th Street and South Van Ness Avenue
According to police Harris was involved in two separate hit-and-runs in San Francisco along the 1700 block of Harrison Street and at the intersection of Hyde and Broadway.
Officers caught up with Harris after a citizen flagged them down in the Mission District to report that a person in a black Audi might need assistance. They found the driver unconscious at the wheel with the engine still running. Harris was parked halfway onto a chained off driveway near 14th and South Van Ness.
When police tried to detain Harris, the former 6-foot-7, 320 pound offensive tackle resisted, and attempted to bite an officer. That officer was not injured.
Police were able to detain Harris, and he was taken to the hospital and then booked into the county jail.
Harris has been charged with aggravated assault, driving under the influence of drugs, hit-and-run, misdemeanor resisting arrest
This is not Harris’ first run-in with the law. In 2013, was arrested and convicted for domestic against his ex-boyfriend, Dimitri Geier.
Harris was drafted out of Stanford by the San Francisco 49ers with the 26th overall pick in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He went on to play five seasons with the Niners before signing a three-year deal, $16 million with the Oakland Raiders. Harris played one season with the Raiders before being released.
