FLORIDA (WFLA) – A man is facing charges after allegedly holding his girlfriend captive in a shed, stabbing her in the leg, and sexually battering her over the course of a month.
The Polk County Sheriff’s office said the victim told police she and Bertin Ocampo, 34, had been in an intimate relationship for about four months.
The victim told deputies Bertin had been holding her against her will by locking her in the shed behind the house he lives in on Orchid Road in Haines City.
She also told deputies Bertin had hit her with his hands and a handgun, stabbed her in the leg with a knife and threatened to harm her daughter if she tried to get away.
The victim said Bertin sexually battered her three or four times, allegedly forcing her to have sexual intercourse in the shed.
The victim allegedly would be locked in the shed with a bed and television and let out to stay with Bertin.
She told deputies they went to his mother’s home and public places together. The victim said she never told anyone or tried to get away because she was scared of what he might do to her or her daughter.
The victim told investigators Bertin stabbed her with a small knife and pointed a gun to her head.
A search warrant was issued for the home and a handgun, revolver, two rifles, a large quality of methamphetamine and ammunition was recovered.
Bertin was arrested on Dec. 3 and is charged with false imprisonment, sexually batter, aggravated assault, battery and aggravated battery.
