Stinson Beach is closed to vehicles this weekend (Saturday, April 7 and Sunday, April 8) due to flooding from the recent storm, officials announced Saturday morning.
Heavy rains Friday caused a small creek nearby to flood.
After 24 hours of continuous rain, the parking lot turned into what looks like a river.
“I’ve never seen this,” said Robert Aptekar. “The entire parking lot, basically the asphalt, has floated out onto the beach. I saw it earlier today…large garbage cans that were six feet wide, that were just floating down river out onto the beach.”
The agency has not yet announced when the beach will reopen.
Damage from the “Pineapple Express” storm has also closed Muir Woods National Monument to visitors and vehicles on Saturday.
