Flooding causes major road closures, power outages across Bay Area

While rain has tapered off in the North Bay near the Russian and Napa Rivers Wednesday, scattered showers are still expected throughout the day across the Bay Area.

Major Road/Highway Closures

Eastbound Highway 37 between 101 and Atherton in Novato is back open as of 3:40 p.m. Westbound Highway 37 remains closed due to flooding, according to CHP. 

At this time there is no estimated time of re-opening. 

This same area was closed due to flooding from a storm a few weeks ago. 

CHP says both EB/WB Hwy 128 before Shear Road in Cloverdale/Sonoma County is also shut down due to a landslide. 

In the East Bay, two lanes of eastbound traffic and one lane of westbound traffic are now open on Ygnacio Valley Rd between Walnut and Civic in Walnut Creek.

Power Outages

The major storm is also causing several power outages across the Bay Area. 

As of 11 a.m. PG&E estimates more than 6,000 customers are without power in the following areas:

The Atmospheric River brought strong winds and heavy rain to the Bay Area.
