PLEASANTON (KRON) — Rainy weather conditions sparks the first sandbag station to open in the East Bay, Friday morning.

The City of Pleasanton with the help of its Operations Service Center opened the first sandbag station at 3333 Busch Road.

Residents are able to pick up sandbags Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. till 3:30 p.m. at the Operations Service Center. Residents are advised to bring their own shovel or suitable tool.

According to city officials, crews have anticipated the rainy season for months. Culverts, gutters and storm drains have been cleared. Tree’s in neighborhoods have been cleared to eliminate any additional debris.

The annual six-week leaf pick up program was in full effect in advance of the rainy season. City officials said, residents can do their part and help clear leaves from neighborhood drains to prevent flooding.

Residents are advised to report any flooding in their areas to both the Operation Services Center and the police department.
